Areas of Support

The Developing Ability Partnership offers support in a wide range of areas from life skills planning to improve academic performance. Developing Ability utilizes a range of behavioural practices and offers specific training and consultancy in: -

Planning for success:
Being able to reflect a person's dreams and ambitions and to show that you are supporting the individual in moving towards the life that they want is central to good practice. Developing Ability offers innovative supports in this area through the use of person centred planning workshops. This is illustrated in Module 1: Supporting Positive Life Experience in the "First Steps in ABA" multimedia course, now available online and shortly on DVD.

Designing Effective Instruction:
Again 'First Steps in ABA' focuses on sharing the main elements of designing effective instruction. Module 3 in this easy to follow course (designed for parents and practitioners alike) allows learners the opportunity to reflect on these topics and to improve the design of their educational interventions.

Building Educational Supports:
In arranging individual supports knowing when to help an individual, and knowing how to help in structured ways can make the difference. Module 4 in "First Steps in ABA" introduces learners to simple but effective supports that allow you to prompt for success.

Building Motivation:
The key for success! Keeping learners motivated ensures that they stay in the role as partners in the educational journey. A motivated learner is a happy learner. Modules 5 and 6 in "First Steps in ABA" provide genuine insights into how to arrange motivation and they provide examples of motivational systems that will improve your supports.
