First Steps in ABA, including the DVD! Duration: Three days

This course mirrors the online and DVD based programme recently launched by the Developing Ability Partnership.   Delivered by our accredited training partners Shine Ireland in Munster, this three day course available across a range of schedules cover key ABA topics.

On this course participants will learn how to:
  • Introduction: Supporting Positive Life Experience
  • What is Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)?
  • Designing Effective Instruction
  • Prompting for Success
  • Understanding Reinforcement
  • Reinforcement in Action
  • Moving from Analysis to Action

This three day workshop style course provides an introduction to ABA and demonstrates how it can improve the effectiveness of our supports and includes a copy of the DVD "First Steps in ABA" as an invaluable innovative and permanent reference and manual for the participants.

  

Shine Ireland are running this course in Tipperary Town in association with the Premier School of Childcare starting Thursday 10th September.  Three courses are being run in Cork on difference schedules starting 16th and 17th September and finally an intensive three day block course starting 15th October 2008. Places are extremely limited on some of these courses - you should inquire directly now.

Using Visual Strategies to Support Individuals Duration: Two days

This workshop allows participants to acquire the skills needed to develop visual tools) and support learners in improving behaviour, social skills, understanding and communication. Using visuals also allows learners to use choice and to understand the predictable aspects of life. Understanding the reasons why behaviour occurs is the first step in supporting individuals whose behaviour challenges us. Performing a 'functional assessment' is a crucial skill in developing an understanding of challenging behaviour.
